docx4j is an open source Java library for creating, editing, and saving OpenXML packages, including DOCX, PPTX, and XLSX files. Prior to 11.5.14, PropertyResolver and adjacent helpers recursively follow the WordprocessingML w:basedOn style inheritance chain without cycle detection. A well-formed DOCX containing mutually based styles causes unbounded recursion in PropertyResolver.fillPPrStack and related effective-style resolution paths, resulting in StackOverflowError. Server-side conversion and table-of-contents processing of an untrusted document can terminate a worker thread, degrade a thread pool, or deny service, although isolation in disposable workers or safe containment of StackOverflowError can reduce the practical effect. The fix adds cyclic-style tracking and CyclicStylesException handling. This issue is fixed in version 11.5.14.

A flaw was found in the skupper-router component of Red Hat Service Interconnect, which is used to provide secure communication between distributed services. The issue occurs when the router processes a specially crafted network message using its AMQP field parser. Due to a lack of bounds on recursion during parsing, the router can run out of stack memory and crash, leading to a denial of service for the interconnected network.

Prior to versions 2.6.12, 2.14.6, 3.2.4, and 3.4.3, Fast DDS’s implementation of SQL‑based content filtering (DDSSQLFilter) allows any participant in a DDS domain to remotely crash other Fast DDS participants by sending a single crafted SEDP `DATA` submessage whose `PID_CONTENT_FILTER_PROPERTY.filterExpression` contains a deeply nested filter expression. Versions 2.6.12, 2.14.6, 3.2.4, and 3.4.3 fix the issue.

XenForo before 2.3.13 contains an uncontrolled recursion vulnerability in the BBCode parser that allows authenticated attackers to cause persistent denial of service by submitting a post with deeply nested BBCode tags. Attackers can craft a single malicious post with sufficient nesting depth to exceed PHP's stack limit, causing fatal errors that repeatedly terminate PHP-FPM workers for all visitors rendering the affected thread.

Uncontrolled recursion (CWE-674) in the QDomDocument/QDomNode serialization path of the Qt XML module (QtXml, qtbase). QDomElementPrivate::save() and QDomNodePrivate::save() recurse mutually, consuming one stack frame per level of element nesting with no depth limit, no configurable bound and no error return. A document with deeply nested elements parses successfully but exhausts the call stack and terminates the process when serialized. Reachable via QDomDocument::toByteArray() (Qt 4.0 and later), QDomDocument::toString(), QDomDocument::toCString(), QDomNode::save(), and operator<<(QTextStream&, const QDomNode&). Denial of service only — no code execution and no memory disclosure.

An uncontrolled recursion vulnerability in the Windows SIPA event log parser of Google go-attestation versions up to and including 0.6.1 allows an attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS). The (*WinEvents).readELAMAggregation function recurses for every nested elamAggregation sub-event without enforcing a maximum recursion depth limit, while the size guard is bypassed on recursive execution paths. By submitting a crafted Windows event log containing deeply nested elamAggregation headers, an attacker can exhaust the goroutine call stack, triggering an unrecoverable fatal runtime error (stack overflow) that immediately crashes the verifier application.

pyasn1 is a generic ASN.1 library for Python. Prior to 0.6.3, the `pyasn1` library is vulnerable to a Denial of Service (DoS) attack caused by uncontrolled recursion when decoding ASN.1 data with deeply nested structures. An attacker can supply a crafted payload containing thousands of nested `SEQUENCE` (`0x30`) or `SET` (`0x31`) tags with "Indefinite Length" (`0x80`) markers. This forces the decoder to recursively call itself until the Python interpreter crashes with a `RecursionError` or consumes all available memory (OOM), crashing the host application. This is a distinct vulnerability from CVE-2026-23490 (which addressed integer overflows in OID decoding). The fix for CVE-2026-23490 (`MAX_OID_ARC_CONTINUATION_OCTETS`) does not mitigate this recursion issue. Version 0.6.3 fixes this specific issue.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: magicmouse: prevent unbounded recursion in magicmouse_raw_event() magicmouse_raw_event() handles DOUBLE_REPORT_ID (0xf7) packets, which pack two touch reports into one, by splitting the packet and calling itself on each half. The only guard against runaway recursion is a "size < 1" check, which stops zero-sized calls but does not bound the recursion depth. A malicious HID device that matches this driver can send a report starting with DOUBLE_REPORT_ID and filled with the sequence [0xf7, 0x00]. Each level consumes two bytes and recurses on the remainder, so an incoming report of up to HID_MAX_BUFFER_SIZE (16 KiB) drives roughly 8000 nested calls. That easily exhausts the 16 KiB kernel stack, leading to a stack overflow: a panic with CONFIG_VMAP_STACK, or memory corruption without it. A double report only ever wraps two normal reports; it is never legitimately nested. Refuse to re-enter the DOUBLE_REPORT_ID case from a recursive call so the recursion depth is bounded to two, while all valid packets keep being parsed exactly as before.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv4: reject undersized MTUs in ip_do_fragment() ip_do_fragment() subtracts the IPv4 header length from the effective MTU and passes the resulting payload MTU to ip_frag_next(). If the effective MTU is smaller than hlen + 8, ip_frag_next() rounds the fragment payload length down to zero. The fragmentation state then never makes forward progress: state->left, state->ptr and state->offset stay unchanged while ip_do_fragment() keeps allocating and transmitting header-only fragments until the softlockup detector fires. This is reproducible with a route installed using "mtu lock 20", but it is also reproducible without route MTU lock, for example by forwarding a packet to a device whose MTU is 20. Fix it in ip_do_fragment() by rejecting mtu < hlen + 8 with -EMSGSIZE, matching the existing IPv6 fragmentation check.

toml-node is a TOML parser for Node.js and the browser. Prior to 4.2.0, toml.parse() uses a Peggy 5.1.0 generated recursive-descent parser in lib/parser.js whose peg$parsevalue, peg$parsearray, and peg$parseinline_table_entry functions recurse through nested arrays and inline tables without a depth limit. A remote unauthenticated application parsing an attacker-controlled TOML document containing a few thousand nested arrays or inline tables can exhaust the Node.js call stack, raise an unexpected RangeError rather than the parser's SyntaxError, and terminate an unprotected request worker or process. The corresponding grammar source is src/toml.pegjs, where the generated parser must be bounded. This issue is fixed in version 4.2.0.
