Reproduction steps (on a 16-CPU machine):
# cd /sys/fs/cgroup/
# mkdir A1
# echo +cpuset > A1/cgroup.subtree_control
# echo "0-14" > A1/cpuset.cpus.exclusive
# mkdir A1/A2
# echo "0-14" > A1/A2/cpuset.cpus.exclusive
# echo "root" > A1/A2/cpuset.cpus.partition
# echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu15/online
# echo member > A1/A2/cpuset.cpus.partition
When CPU 15 is offlined, subpartitions_cpus gets cleared because no CPUs
remain available for the top_cpuset, forcing partitions to share CPUs with
the top_cpuset. In this scenario, disabling the remote partition triggers
a warning stating that effective_xcpus is not a subset of
subpartitions_cpus. Partitions should be invalidated in this case to
inform users that the partition is now invalid(cpus are shared with
top_cpuset).
To fix this issue:
1. Only emit the warning only if subpartitions_cpus is not empty and the
effective_xcpus is not a subset of subpartitions_cpus.
2. During the CPU hotplug process, invalidate partitions if
subpartitions_cpus is empty. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Reject narrower access to pointer ctx fields
The following BPF program, simplified from a syzkaller repro, causes a
kernel warning:
r0 = *(u8 *)(r1 + 169);
exit;
With pointer field sk being at offset 168 in __sk_buff. This access is
detected as a narrower read in bpf_skb_is_valid_access because it
doesn't match offsetof(struct __sk_buff, sk). It is therefore allowed
and later proceeds to bpf_convert_ctx_access. Note that for the
"is_narrower_load" case in the convert_ctx_accesses(), the insn->off
is aligned, so the cnt may not be 0 because it matches the
offsetof(struct __sk_buff, sk) in the bpf_convert_ctx_access. However,
the target_size stays 0 and the verifier errors with a kernel warning:
verifier bug: error during ctx access conversion(1)
This patch fixes that to return a proper "invalid bpf_context access
off=X size=Y" error on the load instruction.
The same issue affects multiple other fields in context structures that
allow narrow access. Some other non-affected fields (for sk_msg,
sk_lookup, and sockopt) were also changed to use bpf_ctx_range_ptr for
consistency.
Note this syzkaller crash was reported in the "Closes" link below, which
used to be about a different bug, fixed in
commit fce7bd8e385a ("bpf/verifier: Handle BPF_LOAD_ACQ instructions
in insn_def_regno()"). Because syzbot somehow confused the two bugs,
the new crash and repro didn't get reported to the mailing list. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/niu: Niu requires MSIX ENTRY_DATA fields touch before entry reads
Fix niu_try_msix() to not cause a fatal trap on sparc systems.
Set PCI_DEV_FLAGS_MSIX_TOUCH_ENTRY_DATA_FIRST on the struct pci_dev to
work around a bug in the hardware or firmware.
For each vector entry in the msix table, niu chips will cause a fatal
trap if any registers in that entry are read before that entries'
ENTRY_DATA register is written to. Testing indicates writes to other
registers are not sufficient to prevent the fatal trap, however the value
does not appear to matter. This only needs to happen once after power up,
so simply rebooting into a kernel lacking this fix will NOT cause the
trap.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: ath11k: Clear affinity hint before calling ath11k_pcic_free_irq() in error path
If a shared IRQ is used by the driver due to platform limitation, then the
IRQ affinity hint is set right after the allocation of IRQ vectors in
ath11k_pci_alloc_msi(). This does no harm unless one of the functions
requesting the IRQ fails and attempt to free the IRQ. This results in the
below warning:
WARNING: CPU: 7 PID: 349 at kernel/irq/manage.c:1929 free_irq+0x278/0x29c
Call trace:

local_pci_probe+0x40/0xbc
The warning is due to not clearing the affinity hint before freeing the
IRQs.
So to fix this issue, clear the IRQ affinity hint before calling
ath11k_pcic_free_irq() in the error path. The affinity will be cleared once
again further down the error path due to code organization, but that does
no harm.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
md/md-bitmap: fix wrong bitmap_limit for clustermd when write sb
In clustermd, separate write-intent-bitmaps are used for each cluster
node:
0 4k 8k 12k
-------------------------------------------------------------------
| idle | md super | bm super [0] + bits |
| bm bits[0, contd] | bm super[1] + bits | bm bits[1, contd] |
| bm super[2] + bits | bm bits [2, contd] | bm super[3] + bits |
| bm bits [3, contd] | | |
So in node 1, pg_index in __write_sb_page() could equal to
bitmap->storage.file_pages. Then bitmap_limit will be calculated to
0. md_super_write() will be called with 0 size.
That means the first 4k sb area of node 1 will never be updated
through filemap_write_page().
This bug causes hang of mdadm/clustermd_tests/01r1_Grow_resize.
Here use (pg_index % bitmap->storage.file_pages) to make calculation
of bitmap_limit correct. |

fs/ntfs3: Mark inode as bad as soon as error detected in mi_enum_attr()

parameter, `struct ntfs_inode *ni`, to allow marking the inode
as bad as soon as an error is detected. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
x86/mm/ident_map: Use gbpages only where full GB page should be mapped.
When ident_pud_init() uses only GB pages to create identity maps, large
ranges of addresses not actually requested can be included in the resulting
table; a 4K request will map a full GB. This can include a lot of extra
address space past that requested, including areas marked reserved by the
BIOS. That allows processor speculation into reserved regions, that on UV
systems can cause system halts.
Only use GB pages when map creation requests include the full GB page of
space. Fall back to using smaller 2M pages when only portions of a GB page
are included in the request.
No attempt is made to coalesce mapping requests. If a request requires a
map entry at the 2M (pmd) level, subsequent mapping requests within the
same 1G region will also be at the pmd level, even if adjacent or
overlapping such requests could have been combined to map a full GB page.
Existing usage starts with larger regions and then adds smaller regions, so
this should not have any great consequence. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bluetooth/l2cap: sync sock recv cb and release
The problem occurs between the system call to close the sock and hci_rx_work,
where the former releases the sock and the latter accesses it without lock protection.
CPU0 CPU1

l2cap_sock_release hci_acldata_packet
l2cap_sock_kill l2cap_recv_frame

If hci_rx_work processes the data that needs to be received before the sock is
closed, then everything is normal; Otherwise, the work thread may access the
released sock when receiving data.
Add a chan mutex in the rx callback of the sock to achieve synchronization between
the sock release and recv cb.
Sock is dead, so set chan data to NULL, avoid others use invalid sock pointer. |

RDMA/mana: Validate rx_hash_key_len
Sashiko points out that rx_hash_key_len comes from a uAPI structure and is
blindly passed to memcpy, allowing the userspace to trash kernel
memory. Bounds check it so the memcpy cannot overflow. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: ipv6: fix NOREF dst use in seg6 and rpl lwtunnels
seg6_input_core() and rpl_input() call ip6_route_input() which sets a
NOREF dst on the skb, then pass it to dst_cache_set_ip6() invoking
dst_hold() unconditionally.
On PREEMPT_RT, ksoftirqd is preemptible and a higher-priority task can
release the underlying pcpu_rt between the lookup and the caching
through a concurrent FIB lookup on a shared nexthop.
Simplified race sequence:
ksoftirqd/X higher-prio task (same CPU X)

dst = skb_dst(skb)
[dst is the dead pcpu_rt]
dst_cache_set_ip6(dst)
-> dst_hold() on dead dst
-> WARN / use-after-free
For the race to occur, ksoftirqd must be preemptible (PREEMPT_RT without
PREEMPT_RT_NEEDS_BH_LOCK) and a concurrent task must be able to release
the pcpu_rt. Shared nexthop objects provide such a path, as two routes
pointing to the same nhid share the same fib6_nh and its rt6i_pcpu
entry.
Fix seg6_input_core() and rpl_input() by calling skb_dst_force() after
ip6_route_input() to force the NOREF dst into a refcounted one before
caching.
The output path is not affected as ip6_route_output() already returns a
refcounted dst. |
| follow-redirects is an open source, drop-in replacement for Node's `http` and `https` modules that automatically follows redirects. Prior to 1.16.0, when an HTTP request follows a cross-domain redirect (301/302/307/308), follow-redirects only strips authorization, proxy-authorization, and cookie headers (matched by regex at index.js). Any custom authentication header (e.g., X-API-Key, X-Auth-Token, Api-Key, Token) is forwarded verbatim to the redirect target. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.16.0. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
proc: protect ptrace_may_access() with exec_update_lock (FD links)
proc_pid_get_link() and proc_pid_readlink() currently look up the task from
the pid once, then do the ptrace access check on that task, then look up
the task from the pid a second time to do the actual access.
That's racy in several ways.
To fix it, pass the task to the ->proc_get_link() handler, and instead of
proc_fd_access_allowed(), introduce a new helper call_proc_get_link() that
looks up and locks the task, does the access check, and calls
->proc_get_link(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
io_uring/io-wq: re-check IO_WQ_BIT_EXIT for each linked work item
commit 10dc95939817 ("io_uring/io-wq: check IO_WQ_BIT_EXIT inside work
run loop") fixed the obvious case where io_worker_handle_work() took one
exit-bit snapshot before draining pending work, but the fix stops one
level too early.
io_worker_handle_work() now re-checks IO_WQ_BIT_EXIT in its outer work
run loop, yet it still snapshots that bit once before processing a whole
dependent linked-work chain. If io_wq_exit_start() sets IO_WQ_BIT_EXIT
after the first linked item has started, the remaining linked items can
still reuse stale do_kill = false, skip IO_WQ_WORK_CANCEL, and continue
running after exit has begun.
Move the check further inside, so it covers linked items too. Note: this
is a syzbot special as it loves setting up tons of slow linked work on
weird devices like msr that take forever to read, and immediately close
the ring. Exit then takes a long time. |
