CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ASoC: SOF: sof-audio: Fix error path in sof_widget_setup_unlocked()
If either tplg_ops->dai_config or widget_kcontrol_setup fail during widget
setup we would double decrement the use_count of the widget because the
sof_widget_free_unlocked() would be called twice, similarly the core_put
would be invoked twice as well.
Since the use_count and core_put() is handled within the widget_free
function we need to return without falling through the pipe_widget_free
label.
The fixes tag is picked to the last change around this part of the code
which is adequately old enough for backporting purposes. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: client: fix query_info() replay double-free
A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its
response buffer. If SMB2_query_info_init() fails before the next send,
cleanup retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again.
Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free. |

smb: client: fix query directory replay double-free
A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its
response buffer. If SMB2_query_directory_init() fails before the next send,
cleanup retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again.
Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free. |
| When initializing an RSA public key from DER or PEM bytes throws an error, the EVP_PKEY* is double-freed: first in the catch block, then in the deinit. This can lead to a crash on future memory allocations. This double-free manifests when BoringSSL cannot decode the public key from the bytes provided. This vulnerability is addressed in swift-crypto version 4.5.1. |
| A double free in the OpenSSL-based TLS certificate revocation checking path of the MongoDB C Driver can be reached by a TLS endpoint that the client already trusts. During the handshake, specially formed certificate data can cause the same heap object to be released twice. An unauthenticated party acting as the trusted endpoint may cause the connecting client application to terminate unexpectedly. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
staging: media: ipu7: fix double-free and use-after-free in error paths
In both ipu7_isys_init() and ipu7_psys_init(), pdata is allocated and
then passed to ipu7_bus_initialize_device(), which stores it in
adev->pdata. The ipu7_bus_release() function frees adev->pdata when the
device's reference count drops to zero.
Two error paths incorrectly call kfree(pdata) after the device teardown
has already freed it:
1. When ipu7_mmu_init() fails: put_device() is called, which drops the
reference count to zero and triggers ipu7_bus_release() ->
kfree(pdata). The subsequent kfree(pdata) is a double-free.
2. When ipu7_bus_add_device() fails: it calls auxiliary_device_uninit()
internally, which calls put_device() -> ipu7_bus_release() ->
kfree(pdata). The subsequent kfree(pdata) is again a double-free.
Note that the kfree(pdata) when ipu7_bus_initialize_device() itself
fails is correct, because in that case auxiliary_device_init() failed
and the release function was never set up, so pdata must be freed
manually.
Additionally, the error code was not saved before calling put_device(),
causing ERR_CAST() to dereference the already-freed adev pointer when
constructing the return value. Fix this by saving the error from
dev_err_probe() before put_device() and returning ERR_PTR() instead.
Remove the redundant kfree(pdata) calls and fix the use-after-free in
the return values of the two affected error paths. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: shaper: reject duplicate leaves in GROUP request
net_shaper_nl_group_doit() does not deduplicate NET_SHAPER_A_LEAVES
entries. When userspace supplies the same leaf handle twice, the same
old-parent pointer lands twice in old_nodes[]. The cleanup loop double
frees the parent. Of course the same parent may still be in old_nodes[]
twice if we are moving multiple of its leaves.
Note that this patch also implicitly fixes the fact that the
i >= leaves_count path forgets to set ret. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
exfat: fix double free in delayed_free
The double free could happen in the following path.
exfat_create_upcase_table()
exfat_create_upcase_table() : return error
exfat_free_upcase_table() : free ->vol_utbl
exfat_load_default_upcase_table : return error
exfat_kill_sb()
delayed_free()
exfat_free_upcase_table() <--------- double free
This patch set ->vol_util as NULL after freeing it. |
| A vulnerability has been identified in the libarchive library, specifically within the archive_read_format_rar_seek_data() function. This flaw involves an integer overflow that can ultimately lead to a double-free condition. Exploiting a double-free vulnerability can result in memory corruption, enabling an attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial-of-service condition. |
| A vulnerability was determined in valkey-io valkey 9.1.0. Impacted is the function moduleTimerHandler of the file src/module.c of the component Module Timer Subsystem. This manipulation causes double free. The attack can be initiated remotely. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized. Patch name: b349fe2821e3998534b1454c1b64a478daf8c6b7. To fix this issue, it is recommended to deploy a patch. |
| An unauthenticated client that can reach a MongoDB Connector for BI deployment configured with Kerberos authentication may cause mongosqld to terminate when a crafted authentication exchange encounters a specific GSSAPI error-handling condition. This can interrupt BI Connector availability until the process restarts. |
| A double-free vulnerability in the WatchGuard Fireware OS iked process allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to create a Denial of Service (DoS) condition in VPN processing by sending specially crafted network traffic. |
| Software installed and run as a non-privileged user may conduct GPU system calls which cause GPU memory leaks and possible kernel heap corruption.
Scenario caused by memory free paths not maintaining state data of upgraded higher order allocations. This could cause memory leak or double free event. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
misc: fastrpc: Fix double free of 'buf' in error path
smatch warning:
drivers/misc/fastrpc.c:1926 fastrpc_req_mmap() error: double free of 'buf'
In fastrpc_req_mmap() error path, the fastrpc buffer is freed in
fastrpc_req_munmap_impl() if unmap is successful.
But in the end, there is an unconditional call to fastrpc_buf_free().
So the above case triggers the double free of fastrpc buf. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
crypto: qce - fix error path in devm_qce_register_algs
If ops->register_algs() fails, the error path repeatedly calls the same
ops->unregister_algs() from the failed registration. Use the loop index
to unregister the previously registered algorithms instead. |
| Issue summary: QUIC server may double free QRX (QUIC record layer RX) object
when channel creation fails for initial packet.
Impact summary: Double free leads to heap corruption, which typically results in
termination of QUIC server process, leading to Denial of Service. There is so
far no evidence that this double free is exploitable for remote code execution,
thus it is considered highly improbable.
CWE: CWE-415: Double Free
Description: In order to validate initial packet, OpenSSL QUIC stack default
packet handler (port_default_packet_handler()) creates a so-called QRX object.
If the initial packet validates successfully with QRX object, the default packet
handler proceeds to channel (connection object) creation. The QRX object used
for packet validation is passed to port_bind_channel(), so it becomes part of
the newly created connection. If port_bind_channel() fails, then it also frees
the QRX object. Once port_bind_channel() returns, the port_default_packet_handler()
detects the failure and proceeds to the error branch, where the same QRX object is
freed for the second time.
The failure in port_bind_channel() function can be induced with a relatively
low effort by a malformed (non RFC 9000 compliant) INITIAL packet. If the packet
carries DCID (destination connection ID) which is shorter than 8 bytes, then
port_bind_channel() jumps to the error path after ossl_quic_lcidm_enrol_odcid()
detects that the DCID has invalid length.
FIPS impact: no
The FIPS module is not affected, as the QUIC implementation is outside of
the OpenSSL FIPS module boundary. |
| A flaw was found in OpenSSH. A malicious SSH server can exploit a double free vulnerability in the Diffie-Hellman Group Exchange (DH-GEX) client path. This occurs during FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) mode known-group validation when the client processes attacker-controlled DH-GEX group parameters. Successful exploitation leads to client-side process termination, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). |
| In strongSwan before 6.0.7, identity parsing/cloning is mishandled. Parsed EAP-Identities that result in an empty but non-NULL encoding are not correctly cloned and trigger a double-free once the duplicates are destroyed. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/rxe: Fix double free in rxe_srq_from_init
In rxe_srq_from_init(), the queue pointer 'q' is assigned to
'srq->rq.queue' before copying the SRQ number to user space.
If copy_to_user() fails, the function calls rxe_queue_cleanup()
to free the queue, but leaves the now-invalid pointer in
'srq->rq.queue'.
The caller of rxe_srq_from_init() (rxe_create_srq) eventually
calls rxe_srq_cleanup() upon receiving the error, which triggers
a second rxe_queue_cleanup() on the same memory, leading to a
double free.
The call trace looks like this:
kmem_cache_free+0x.../0x...
rxe_queue_cleanup+0x1a/0x30 [rdma_rxe]
rxe_srq_cleanup+0x42/0x60 [rdma_rxe]
rxe_elem_release+0x31/0x70 [rdma_rxe]
rxe_create_srq+0x12b/0x1a0 [rdma_rxe]
ib_create_srq_user+0x9a/0x150 [ib_core]
Fix this by moving 'srq->rq.queue = q' after copy_to_user. |
| FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.28.0, rdpsnd_server_recv_formats in channels/rdpsnd/server/rdpsnd_main.c frees context->client_formats on a malformed Client Audio Formats PDU without clearing the owning pointer or num_client_formats. An authenticated RDP client can trigger an error such as a cbSize larger than the remaining record, leave the dangling pointer in the server context, and cause rdpsnd_server_context_free to free the same allocation again at session teardown. This reliably terminates the server and can create allocator-dependent heap corruption. This issue is fixed in version 3.28.0. |
