CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iommu/arm-smmu-v3-sva: Fix mm use-after-free
We currently call arm64_mm_context_put() without holding a reference to
the mm, which can result in use-after-free. Call mmgrab()/mmdrop() to
ensure the mm only gets freed after we unpinned the ASID. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bfq: Update cgroup information before merging bio
When the process is migrated to a different cgroup (or in case of
writeback just starts submitting bios associated with a different
cgroup) bfq_merge_bio() can operate with stale cgroup information in
bic. Thus the bio can be merged to a request from a different cgroup or
it can result in merging of bfqqs for different cgroups or bfqqs of
already dead cgroups and causing possible use-after-free issues. Fix the
problem by updating cgroup information in bfq_merge_bio(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bfq: Make sure bfqg for which we are queueing requests is online
Bios queued into BFQ IO scheduler can be associated with a cgroup that
was already offlined. This may then cause insertion of this bfq_group
into a service tree. But this bfq_group will get freed as soon as last
bio associated with it is completed leading to use after free issues for
service tree users. Fix the problem by making sure we always operate on
online bfq_group. If the bfq_group associated with the bio is not
online, we pick the first online parent. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
driver: base: fix UAF when driver_attach failed
When driver_attach(drv); failed, the driver_private will be freed.
But it has been added to the bus, which caused a UAF.
To fix it, we need to delete it from the bus when failed. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
blk-mq: don't touch ->tagset in blk_mq_get_sq_hctx
blk_mq_run_hw_queues() could be run when there isn't queued request and
after queue is cleaned up, at that time tagset is freed, because tagset
lifetime is covered by driver, and often freed after blk_cleanup_queue()
returns.
So don't touch ->tagset for figuring out current default hctx by the mapping
built in request queue, so use-after-free on tagset can be avoided. Meantime
this way should be fast than retrieving mapping from tagset. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
can: m_can: m_can_tx_handler(): fix use after free of skb
can_put_echo_skb() will clone skb then free the skb. Move the
can_put_echo_skb() for the m_can version 3.0.x directly before the
start of the xmit in hardware, similar to the 3.1.x branch. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: hns3: add vlan list lock to protect vlan list
When adding port base VLAN, vf VLAN need to remove from HW and modify
the vlan state in vf VLAN list as false. If the periodicity task is
freeing the same node, it may cause "use after free" error.
This patch adds a vlan list lock to protect the vlan list. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
block, bfq: don't move oom_bfqq
Our test report a UAF:

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drbd: Fix five use after free bugs in get_initial_state
In get_initial_state, it calls notify_initial_state_done(skb,..) if
cb->args[5]==1. If genlmsg_put() failed in notify_initial_state_done(),
the skb will be freed by nlmsg_free(skb).
Then get_initial_state will goto out and the freed skb will be used by
return value skb->len, which is a uaf bug.
What's worse, the same problem goes even further: skb can also be
freed in the notify_*_state_change -> notify_*_state calls below.
Thus 4 additional uaf bugs happened.
My patch lets the problem callee functions: notify_initial_state_done
and notify_*_state_change return an error code if errors happen.
So that the error codes could be propagated and the uaf bugs can be avoid.
v2 reports a compilation warning. This v3 fixed this warning and built
successfully in my local environment with no additional warnings.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
libbpf: Handle size overflow for ringbuf mmap
The maximum size of ringbuf is 2GB on x86-64 host, so 2 * max_entries
will overflow u32 when mapping producer page and data pages. Only
casting max_entries to size_t is not enough, because for 32-bits
application on 64-bits kernel the size of read-only mmap region
also could overflow size_t.
So fixing it by casting the size of read-only mmap region into a __u64
and checking whether or not there will be overflow during mmap. |

hwmon: (ibmpex) Fix possible UAF when ibmpex_register_bmc() fails
Smatch report warning as follows:
drivers/hwmon/ibmpex.c:509 ibmpex_register_bmc() warn:
'&data->list' not removed from list
If ibmpex_find_sensors() fails in ibmpex_register_bmc(), data will
be freed, but data->list will not be removed from driver_data.bmc_data,
then list traversal may cause UAF.
Fix by removeing it from driver_data.bmc_data before free(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
e100: Fix possible use after free in e100_xmit_prepare
In e100_xmit_prepare(), if we can't map the skb, then return -ENOMEM, so
e100_xmit_frame() will return NETDEV_TX_BUSY and the upper layer will
resend the skb. But the skb is already freed, which will cause UAF bug
when the upper layer resends the skb.
Remove the harmful free. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/mlx5e: Fix use-after-free when reverting termination table
When having multiple dests with termination tables and second one
or afterwards fails the driver reverts usage of term tables but
doesn't reset the assignment in attr->dests[num_vport_dests].termtbl
which case a use-after-free when releasing the rule.
Fix by resetting the assignment of termtbl to null. |

The cause of the issue is that sock_put() from __tun_detach() drops
last reference count for struct net, and then notifier_call_chain()
from netdev_state_change() accesses that struct net.
This patch fixes the issue by calling sock_put() from tun_detach()
after all necessary accesses for the struct net has done. |

riscv: fix race when vmap stack overflow
Currently, when detecting vmap stack overflow, riscv firstly switches
to the so called shadow stack, then use this shadow stack to call the
get_overflow_stack() to get the overflow stack. However, there's
a race here if two or more harts use the same shadow stack at the same
time.
To solve this race, we introduce spin_shadow_stack atomic var, which
will be swap between its own address and 0 in atomic way, when the
var is set, it means the shadow_stack is being used; when the var
is cleared, it means the shadow_stack isn't being used.
[Palmer: Add AQ to the swap, and also some comments.] |

This is a tentative to write above the stack. The problem is encoutered
with tests added by commit 38608ee7b690 ("bpf, tests: Add load store
test case for tail call")
This happens because tail call is done to a BPF prog with a different
stack_depth. At the time being, the stack is kept as is when the caller
tail calls its callee. But at exit, the callee restores the stack based
on its own properties. Therefore here, at each run, r1 is erroneously
increased by 32 - 16 = 16 bytes.
This was done that way in order to pass the tail call count from caller
to callee through the stack. As powerpc32 doesn't have a red zone in
the stack, it was necessary the maintain the stack as is for the tail
call. But it was not anticipated that the BPF frame size could be
different.
Let's take a new approach. Use register r4 to carry the tail call count
during the tail call, and save it into the stack at function entry if
required. This means the input parameter must be in r3, which is more
correct as it is a 32 bits parameter, then tail call better match with
normal BPF function entry, the down side being that we move that input
parameter back and forth between r3 and r4. That can be optimised later.
Doing that also has the advantage of maximising the common parts between
tail calls and a normal function exit.
With the fix, tail call tests are now successfull:
test_bpf: #0 Tail call leaf jited:1 53 PASS
test_bpf: #1 Tail call 2 jited:1 115 PASS
