CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Input: ims-pcu - check record size in ims_pcu_flash_firmware()
The "len" variable comes from the firmware and we generally do
trust firmware, but it's always better to double check. If the "len"
is too large it could result in memory corruption when we do
"memcpy(fragment->data, rec->data, len);" |

ftrace: Fix possible use-after-free issue in ftrace_location()
KASAN reports a bug:

The root cause is that, in lookup_rec(), ftrace record of some address
is being searched in ftrace pages of some module, but those ftrace pages
at the same time is being freed in ftrace_release_mod() as the
corresponding module is being deleted:
CPU1 | CPU2
register_kprobes() { | delete_module() {
check_kprobe_address_safe() { |
arch_check_ftrace_location() { |
ftrace_location() { |
lookup_rec() // USE! | ftrace_release_mod() // Free!
To fix this issue:
1. Hold rcu lock as accessing ftrace pages in ftrace_location_range();
2. Use ftrace_location_range() instead of lookup_rec() in
ftrace_location();
3. Call synchronize_rcu() before freeing any ftrace pages both in
ftrace_process_locs()/ftrace_release_mod()/ftrace_free_mem(). |

which will cause UAF.

This happens because sata_pmp_init_links() initialize link->pmp up to
SATA_PMP_MAX_PORTS while em_priv is declared as 8 elements array.
I can't find the maximum Enclosure Management ports specified in AHCI
spec v1.3.1, but "12.2.1 LED message type" states that "Port Multiplier
Information" can utilize 4 bits, which implies it can support up to 16
ports. Hence, use SATA_PMP_MAX_PORTS as EM_MAX_SLOTS to resolve the
issue.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: dvbdev: adopts refcnt to avoid UAF
dvb_unregister_device() is known that prone to use-after-free.
That is, the cleanup from dvb_unregister_device() releases the dvb_device
even if there are pointers stored in file->private_data still refer to it.
This patch adds a reference counter into struct dvb_device and delays its
deallocation until no pointer refers to the object. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
igb: Do not free q_vector unless new one was allocated
Avoid potential use-after-free condition under memory pressure. If the
kzalloc() fails, q_vector will be freed but left in the original
adapter->q_vector[v_idx] array position. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nilfs2: fix use-after-free bug of ns_writer on remount
If a nilfs2 filesystem is downgraded to read-only due to metadata
corruption on disk and is remounted read/write, or if emergency read-only
remount is performed, detaching a log writer and synchronizing the
filesystem can be done at the same time.
In these cases, use-after-free of the log writer (hereinafter
nilfs->ns_writer) can happen as shown in the scenario below:
Task1 Task2
-------------------------------- ------------------------------
nilfs_construct_segment
nilfs_segctor_sync
init_wait
init_waitqueue_entry
add_wait_queue
schedule
nilfs_remount (R/W remount case)
nilfs_attach_log_writer
nilfs_detach_log_writer
nilfs_segctor_destroy
kfree
finish_wait
_raw_spin_lock_irqsave
__raw_spin_lock_irqsave
do_raw_spin_lock
debug_spin_lock_before <-- use-after-free
While Task1 is sleeping, nilfs->ns_writer is freed by Task2. After Task1
waked up, Task1 accesses nilfs->ns_writer which is already freed. This
scenario diagram is based on the Shigeru Yoshida's post [1].
This patch fixes the issue by not detaching nilfs->ns_writer on remount so
that this UAF race doesn't happen. Along with this change, this patch
also inserts a few necessary read-only checks with superblock instance
where only the ns_writer pointer was used to check if the filesystem is
read-only. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
srcu: Tighten cleanup_srcu_struct() GP checks
Currently, cleanup_srcu_struct() checks for a grace period in progress,
but it does not check for a grace period that has not yet started but
which might start at any time. Such a situation could result in a
use-after-free bug, so this commit adds a check for a grace period that
is needed but not yet started to cleanup_srcu_struct(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: nf_tables: avoid skb access on nf_stolen
When verdict is NF_STOLEN, the skb might have been freed.
When tracing is enabled, this can result in a use-after-free:
1. access to skb->nf_trace
2. access to skb->mark
3. computation of trace id
4. dump of packet payload
To avoid 1, keep a cached copy of skb->nf_trace in the
trace state struct.
Refresh this copy whenever verdict is != STOLEN.
Avoid 2 by skipping skb->mark access if verdict is STOLEN.
3 is avoided by precomputing the trace id.
Only dump the packet when verdict is not "STOLEN". |

cifs: fix potential double free during failed mount
RHBZ: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2088799 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/pm: fix double free in si_parse_power_table()
In function si_parse_power_table(), array adev->pm.dpm.ps and its member
is allocated. If the allocation of each member fails, the array itself
is freed and returned with an error code. However, the array is later
freed again in si_dpm_fini() function which is called when the function
returns an error.
This leads to potential double free of the array adev->pm.dpm.ps, as
well as leak of its array members, since the members are not freed in
the allocation function and the array is not nulled when freed.
In addition adev->pm.dpm.num_ps, which keeps track of the allocated
array member, is not updated until the member allocation is
successfully finished, this could also lead to either use after free,
or uninitialized variable access in si_dpm_fini().
Fix this by postponing the free of the array until si_dpm_fini() and
increment adev->pm.dpm.num_ps everytime the array member is allocated. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ALSA: oss: Fix PCM OSS buffer allocation overflow
We've got syzbot reports hitting INT_MAX overflow at vmalloc()
allocation that is called from snd_pcm_plug_alloc(). Although we
apply the restrictions to input parameters, it's based only on the
hw_params of the underlying PCM device. Since the PCM OSS layer
allocates a temporary buffer for the data conversion, the size may
become unexpectedly large when more channels or higher rates is given;
in the reported case, it went over INT_MAX, hence it hits WARN_ON().
This patch is an attempt to avoid such an overflow and an allocation
for too large buffers. First off, it adds the limit of 1MB as the
upper bound for period bytes. This must be large enough for all use
cases, and we really don't want to handle a larger temporary buffer
than this size. The size check is performed at two places, where the
original period bytes is calculated and where the plugin buffer size
is calculated.
In addition, the driver uses array_size() and array3_size() for
multiplications to catch overflows for the converted period size and
buffer bytes. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ALSA: pcm: Fix races among concurrent hw_params and hw_free calls
Currently we have neither proper check nor protection against the
concurrent calls of PCM hw_params and hw_free ioctls, which may result
in a UAF. Since the existing PCM stream lock can't be used for
protecting the whole ioctl operations, we need a new mutex to protect
those racy calls.
This patch introduced a new mutex, runtime->buffer_mutex, and applies
it to both hw_params and hw_free ioctl code paths. Along with it, the
both functions are slightly modified (the mmap_count check is moved
into the state-check block) for code simplicity. |
