By default, the affected code is not executed unless one of the following conditions is met:
LWS_WITHOUT_EXTENSIONS (default ON) is manually set to OFF in CMake.
LWS_WITH_HTTP_STREAM_COMPRESSION (default OFF) is manually set to ON in CMake.
Despite these conditions, when triggered in affected configurations, this vulnerability may allow attackers to manipulate pointers, potentially leading to memory corruption or unexpected behavior. |

This can cause incoming packets to incorrectly be allowed or denied. The two symptoms of this issue on the affected release and platform are:

| MyDumper is a MySQL Logical Backup Tool. The MySQL C client library (libmysqlclient) allows authenticated remote actors to read arbitrary files from client systems via a crafted server response to LOAD LOCAL INFILE query, leading to sensitive information disclosure when clients connect to untrusted MySQL servers without explicitly disabling the local infile capability. Mydumper has the local infile option enabled by default and does not have an option to disable it. This can lead to an unexpected arbitrary file read if the Mydumper tool connects to an untrusted server. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.18.2-8. |
| Linux::Statm::Tiny for Perl before 0.0701 allows untrusted code from the current working directory ('.') to be loaded similar to CVE-2016-1238.
If an attacker can place a malicious file in current working directory, it may be loaded instead of the intended file, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution.
