CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
arm64: entry: avoid kprobe recursion
The cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() function is called when
handling debug exceptions (and synchronous exceptions from BRK
instructions), and so is called when a probed function executes. If the
compiler does not inline cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler(), it
can be probed.
If cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() is probed, any debug
exception or software breakpoint exception will result in recursive
exceptions leading to a stack overflow. This can be triggered with the
ftrace multiple_probes selftest, and as per the example splat below.
This is a regression caused by commit:
6459b8469753e9fe ("arm64: entry: consolidate Cortex-A76 erratum 1463225 workaround")
... which removed the NOKPROBE_SYMBOL() annotation associated with the
function.
My intent was that cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() would be
inlined into its caller, el1_dbg(), which is marked noinstr and cannot
be probed. Mark cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() as
__always_inline to ensure this.
Example splat prior to this patch (with recursive entries elided):
| # echo p cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/kprobe_events
| # echo p do_el0_svc >> /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/kprobe_events
| # echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/kprobes/enable

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ftrace: Fix use-after-free for dynamic ftrace_ops
KASAN reported a use-after-free with ftrace ops [1]. It was found from
vmcore that perf had registered two ops with the same content
successively, both dynamic. After unregistering the second ops, a
use-after-free occurred.
In ftrace_shutdown(), when the second ops is unregistered, the
FTRACE_UPDATE_CALLS command is not set because there is another enabled
ops with the same content. Also, both ops are dynamic and the ftrace
callback function is ftrace_ops_list_func, so the
FTRACE_UPDATE_TRACE_FUNC command will not be set. Eventually the value
of 'command' will be 0 and ftrace_shutdown() will skip the rcu
synchronization.
However, ftrace may be activated. When the ops is released, another CPU
may be accessing the ops. Add the missing synchronization to fix this
problem.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Reject struct_ops registration that uses module ptr and the module btf_id is missing
There is a UAF report in the bpf_struct_ops when CONFIG_MODULES=n.
In particular, the report is on tcp_congestion_ops that has
a "struct module *owner" member.
For struct_ops that has a "struct module *owner" member,
it can be extended either by the regular kernel module or
by the bpf_struct_ops. bpf_try_module_get() will be used
to do the refcounting and different refcount is done
based on the owner pointer. When CONFIG_MODULES=n,
the btf_id of the "struct module" is missing:
WARN: resolve_btfids: unresolved symbol module
Thus, the bpf_try_module_get() cannot do the correct refcounting.
Not all subsystem's struct_ops requires the "struct module *owner" member.
e.g. the recent sched_ext_ops.
This patch is to disable bpf_struct_ops registration if
the struct_ops has the "struct module *" member and the
"struct module" btf_id is missing. The btf_type_is_fwd() helper
is moved to the btf.h header file for this test.
This has happened since the beginning of bpf_struct_ops which has gone
through many changes. The Fixes tag is set to a recent commit that this
patch can apply cleanly. Considering CONFIG_MODULES=n is not
common and the age of the issue, targeting for bpf-next also. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ublk: detach gendisk from ublk device if add_disk() fails
Inside ublk_abort_requests(), gendisk is grabbed for aborting all
inflight requests. And ublk_abort_requests() is called when exiting
the uring context or handling timeout.
If add_disk() fails, the gendisk may have been freed when calling
ublk_abort_requests(), so use-after-free can be caused when getting
disk's reference in ublk_abort_requests().
Fixes the bug by detaching gendisk from ublk device if add_disk() fails. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/bnxt_re: Avoid CPU lockups due fifo occupancy check loop
Driver waits indefinitely for the fifo occupancy to go below a threshold
as soon as the pacing interrupt is received. This can cause soft lockup on
one of the processors, if the rate of DB is very high.
Add a loop count for FPGA and exit the __wait_for_fifo_occupancy_below_th
if the loop is taking more time. Pacing will be continuing until the
occupancy is below the threshold. This is ensured by the checks in
bnxt_re_pacing_timer_exp and further scheduling the work for pacing based
on the fifo occupancy. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tcp: Fix Use-After-Free in tcp_ao_connect_init
Since call_rcu, which is called in the hlist_for_each_entry_rcu traversal
of tcp_ao_connect_init, is not part of the RCU read critical section, it
is possible that the RCU grace period will pass during the traversal and
the key will be free.
To prevent this, it should be changed to hlist_for_each_entry_safe. |

NFSD: Fix potential use-after-free in nfsd_file_put()
nfsd_file_put_noref() can free @nf, so don't dereference @nf
immediately upon return from nfsd_file_put_noref(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nbd: fix uaf in nbd_open
Commit 4af5f2e03013 ("nbd: use blk_mq_alloc_disk and
blk_cleanup_disk") cleans up disk by blk_cleanup_disk() and it won't set
disk->private_data as NULL as before. UAF may be triggered in nbd_open()
if someone tries to open nbd device right after nbd_put() since nbd has
been free in nbd_dev_remove().
Fix this by implementing ->free_disk and free private data in it. |
