CVSS v3.1 |
Poetry is a dependency manager for Python. To handle dependencies that come from a Git repository, Poetry executes various commands, e.g. `git config`. These commands are being executed using the executable’s name and not its absolute path. This can lead to the execution of untrusted code due to the way Windows resolves executable names to paths. Unlike Linux-based operating systems, Windows searches for the executable in the current directory first and looks in the paths that are defined in the `PATH` environment variable afterward. This vulnerability can lead to Arbitrary Code Execution, which would lead to the takeover of the system. If a developer is exploited, the attacker could steal credentials or persist their access. If the exploit happens on a server, the attackers could use their access to attack other internal systems. Since this vulnerability requires a fair amount of user interaction, it is not as dangerous as a remotely exploitable one. However, it still puts developers at risk when dealing with untrusted files in a way they think is safe. The victim could also not protect themself by vetting any Git or Poetry config files that might be present in the directory, because the behavior is undocumented. Versions 1.1.9 and 1.2.0b1 contain patches for this issue.
Mist is the command-line interface for the makedeb Package Repository. Prior to version 0.9.5, a user-provided `sudo` binary via the `PATH` variable can allow a local user to run arbitrary commands on the user's system with root permissions. Versions 0.9.5 and later contain a patch. No known workarounds exist.
Jupyter Core is a package for the core common functionality of Jupyter projects. Jupyter Core prior to version 4.11.2 contains an arbitrary code execution vulnerability in `jupyter_core` that stems from `jupyter_core` executing untrusted files in CWD. This vulnerability allows one user to run code as another. Version 4.11.2 contains a patch for this issue. There are no known workarounds.
A vulnerability has been identified in SICAM PAS/PQS (All versions < V7.0). Affected software does not properly secure a folder containing library files. This could allow an attacker to place a custom malicious DLL in this folder which is then run with SYSTEM rights when a service is started that requires this DLL. At the time of assigning the CVE, the affected firmware version of the component has already been superseded by succeeding mainline versions.
A vulnerability was found in SourceCodester Insurance Management System 1.0. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file /E-Insurance/. The manipulation leads to direct request. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The identifier VDB-272365 was assigned to this vulnerability.
Untrusted search path vulnerability in installers for The Public Certification Service for Individuals "The JPKI user's software (for Windows 7 and later)" Ver3.1 and earlier, The Public Certification Service for Individuals "The JPKI user's software (for Windows Vista)", The Public Certification Service for Individuals "The JPKI user's software" Ver2.6 and earlier that were available until April 27, 2017 allows remote attackers to gain privileges via a Trojan horse DLL in an unspecified directory.
Multiple untrusted search path vulnerabilities in installer in Synology Photo Station Uploader before 1.4.2-084 on Windows allows local attackers to execute arbitrary code and conduct DLL hijacking attack via a Trojan horse (1) shfolder.dll, (2) ntmarta.dll, (3) secur32.dll or (4) dwmapi.dll file in the current working directory.
Untrusted search path vulnerability in HYPER SBI Ver. 2.2 and earlier allows an attacker to gain privileges via a Trojan horse DLL in an unspecified directory.
Untrusted search path vulnerability in BOOK WALKER for Windows Ver.1.2.9 and earlier allows an attacker to gain privileges via a Trojan horse DLL in an unspecified directory.
Untrusted search path vulnerability in HIBUN Confidential File Decryption program prior to 10.50.0.5 allows an attacker to gain privileges via a Trojan horse DLL in an unspecified directory. Note this is a separate vulnerability from CVE-2017-10865.
An untrusted search path (aka DLL Preloading) vulnerability in the Cisco Immunet antimalware installer could allow an authenticated, local attacker to execute arbitrary code via DLL hijacking if a local user with administrative privileges executes the installer in the current working directory where a crafted DLL has been placed by an attacker. The vulnerability is due to incomplete input validation of path and file names of a DLL file before it is loaded. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a malicious DLL file and installing it in a specific system directory. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute commands on the underlying Microsoft Windows host with privileges equivalent to the SYSTEM account. An attacker would need valid user credentials to exploit this vulnerability. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvf23928.
