CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nilfs2: fix potential UAF of struct nilfs_sc_info in nilfs_segctor_thread()
The finalization of nilfs_segctor_thread() can race with
nilfs_segctor_kill_thread() which terminates that thread, potentially
causing a use-after-free BUG as KASAN detected.
At the end of nilfs_segctor_thread(), it assigns NULL to "sc_task" member
of "struct nilfs_sc_info" to indicate the thread has finished, and then
notifies nilfs_segctor_kill_thread() of this using waitqueue
"sc_wait_task" on the struct nilfs_sc_info.
However, here, immediately after the NULL assignment to "sc_task", it is
possible that nilfs_segctor_kill_thread() will detect it and return to
continue the deallocation, freeing the nilfs_sc_info structure before the
thread does the notification.
This fixes the issue by protecting the NULL assignment to "sc_task" and
its notification, with spinlock "sc_state_lock" of the struct
nilfs_sc_info. Since nilfs_segctor_kill_thread() does a final check to
see if "sc_task" is NULL with "sc_state_lock" locked, this can eliminate
the race. |
| FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.24.0, division by zero in MS-ADPCM and IMA-ADPCM decoders when nBlockAlign is 0, leading to a crash. In libfreerdp/codec/dsp.c, both ADPCM decoders use size % block_size where block_size = context->common.format.nBlockAlign. The nBlockAlign value comes from the Server Audio Formats PDU on the RDPSND channel. The value 0 is not validated anywhere before reaching the decoder. When nBlockAlign = 0, the modulo operation causes a SIGFPE (floating point exception) crash. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.24.0. |
| FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.24.0, there is an out-of-bounds read in MS-ADPCM and IMA-ADPCM decoders due to unchecked predictor and step_index values from input data. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.24.0. |
| FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.24.0, the gdi_surface_bits() function processes SURFACE_BITS_COMMAND messages sent by the RDP server. When the command is handled using NSCodec, the bmp.width and bmp.height values provided by the server are not properly validated against the actual desktop dimensions. A malicious RDP server can supply crafted bmp.width and bmp.height values that exceed the expected surface size. Because these values are used during bitmap decoding and memory operations without proper bounds checking, this can lead to a heap buffer overflow. Since the attacker can also control the associated pixel data transmitted by the server, the overflow may be exploitable to overwrite adjacent heap memory. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.24.0. |
| FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.24.0, there is an out-of-bounds read in freerdp_bitmap_decompress_planar when SrcSize is 0. The function dereferences *srcp (which points to pSrcData) without first verifying that SrcSize >= 1. When SrcSize is 0 and pSrcData is non-NULL, this reads one byte past the end of the source buffer. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.24.0. |
| The undici WebSocket client is vulnerable to a denial-of-service attack via unbounded memory consumption during permessage-deflate decompression. When a WebSocket connection negotiates the permessage-deflate extension, the client decompresses incoming compressed frames without enforcing any limit on the decompressed data size. A malicious WebSocket server can send a small compressed frame (a "decompression bomb") that expands to an extremely large size in memory, causing the Node.js process to exhaust available memory and crash or become unresponsive.
The vulnerability exists in the PerMessageDeflate.decompress() method, which accumulates all decompressed chunks in memory and concatenates them into a single Buffer without checking whether the total size exceeds a safe threshold. |
| ImpactA server can reply with a WebSocket frame using the 64-bit length form and an extremely large length. undici's ByteParser overflows internal math, ends up in an invalid state, and throws a fatal TypeError that terminates the process.
Patches
Patched in the undici version v7.24.0 and v6.24.0. Users should upgrade to this version or later. |
| ImpactThe undici WebSocket client is vulnerable to a denial-of-service attack due to improper validation of the server_max_window_bits parameter in the permessage-deflate extension. When a WebSocket client connects to a server, it automatically advertises support for permessage-deflate compression. A malicious server can respond with an out-of-range server_max_window_bits value (outside zlib's valid range of 8-15). When the server subsequently sends a compressed frame, the client attempts to create a zlib InflateRaw instance with the invalid windowBits value, causing a synchronous RangeError exception that is not caught, resulting in immediate process termination.
The vulnerability exists because:
* The isValidClientWindowBits() function only validates that the value contains ASCII digits, not that it falls within the valid range 8-15
* The createInflateRaw() call is not wrapped in a try-catch block
* The resulting exception propagates up through the call stack and crashes the Node.js process |
| Vim is an open source, command line text editor. From 9.1.0011 to before 9.2.0137, Vim's NFA regex compiler, when encountering a collection containing a combining character as the endpoint of a character range (e.g. [0-0\u05bb]), incorrectly emits the composing bytes of that character as separate NFA states. This corrupts the NFA postfix stack, resulting in NFA_START_COLL having a NULL out1 pointer. When nfa_max_width() subsequently traverses the compiled NFA to estimate match width for the look-behind assertion, it dereferences state->out1->out without a NULL check, causing a segmentation fault. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.2.0137. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/i915: Make intel_get_crtc_new_encoder() less oopsy
The point of the WARN was to print something, not oops
straight up. Currently that is precisely what happens
if we can't find the connector for the crtc in the atomic
state. Get the dev pointer from the atomic state instead
of the potentially NULL encoder to avoid that.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ip_vti: fix potential slab-use-after-free in decode_session6
When ip_vti device is set to the qdisc of the sfb type, the cb field
of the sent skb may be modified during enqueuing. Then,
slab-use-after-free may occur when ip_vti device sends IPv6 packets.
As commit f855691975bb ("xfrm6: Fix the nexthdr offset in
_decode_session6.") showed, xfrm_decode_session was originally intended
only for the receive path. IP6CB(skb)->nhoff is not set during
transmission. Therefore, set the cb field in the skb to 0 before
sending packets. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iavf: Fix use-after-free in free_netdev
We do netif_napi_add() for all allocated q_vectors[], but potentially
do netif_napi_del() for part of them, then kfree q_vectors and leave
invalid pointers at dev->napi_list.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: nl80211: fix integer overflow in nl80211_parse_mbssid_elems()
nl80211_parse_mbssid_elems() uses a u8 variable num_elems to count the
number of MBSSID elements in the nested netlink attribute attrs, which can
lead to an integer overflow if a user of the nl80211 interface specifies
256 or more elements in the corresponding attribute in userspace. The
integer overflow can lead to a heap buffer overflow as num_elems determines
the size of the trailing array in elems, and this array is thereafter
written to for each element in attrs.
Note that this vulnerability only affects devices with the
wiphy->mbssid_max_interfaces member set for the wireless physical device
struct in the device driver, and can only be triggered by a process with
CAP_NET_ADMIN capabilities.
Fix this by checking for a maximum of 255 elements in attrs. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tracing/histograms: Add histograms to hist_vars if they have referenced variables
Hist triggers can have referenced variables without having direct
variables fields. This can be the case if referenced variables are added
for trigger actions. In this case the newly added references will not
have field variables. Not taking such referenced variables into
consideration can result in a bug where it would be possible to remove
hist trigger with variables being refenced. This will result in a bug
that is easily reproducable like so
$ cd /sys/kernel/tracing
$ echo 'synthetic_sys_enter char[] comm; long id' >> synthetic_events
$ echo 'hist:keys=common_pid.execname,id.syscall:vals=hitcount:comm=common_pid.execname' >> events/raw_syscalls/sys_enter/trigger
$ echo 'hist:keys=common_pid.execname,id.syscall:onmatch(raw_syscalls.sys_enter).synthetic_sys_enter($comm, id)' >> events/raw_syscalls/sys_enter/trigger
$ echo '!hist:keys=common_pid.execname,id.syscall:vals=hitcount:comm=common_pid.execname' >> events/raw_syscalls/sys_enter/trigger

| Wagtail is an open source content management system built on Django. A bug in Wagtail's `parse_query_string` would result in it taking a long time to process suitably crafted inputs. When used to parse sufficiently long strings of characters without a space, `parse_query_string` would take an unexpectedly large amount of time to process, resulting in a denial of service. In an initial Wagtail installation, the vulnerability can be exploited by any Wagtail admin user. It cannot be exploited by end users. If your Wagtail site has a custom search implementation which uses `parse_query_string`, it may be exploitable by other users (e.g. unauthenticated users). Patched versions have been released as Wagtail 5.2.6, 6.0.6 and 6.1.3.

| flatted is a circular JSON parser. Prior to 3.4.0, flatted's parse() function uses a recursive revive() phase to resolve circular references in deserialized JSON. When given a crafted payload with deeply nested or self-referential $ indices, the recursion depth is unbounded, causing a stack overflow that crashes the Node.js process. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.4.0. |
| Redis is an open source, in-memory database that persists on disk. Versions 8.2.1 and below allow an authenticated user to use a specially crafted Lua script to manipulate the garbage collector, trigger a use-after-free and potentially lead to remote code execution. The problem exists in all versions of Redis with Lua scripting. This issue is fixed in version 8.2.2. To workaround this issue without patching the redis-server executable is to prevent users from executing Lua scripts. This can be done using ACL to restrict EVAL and EVALSHA commands. |
