CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
dm-crypt: don't modify the data when using authenticated encryption
It was said that authenticated encryption could produce invalid tag when
the data that is being encrypted is modified [1]. So, fix this problem by
copying the data into the clone bio first and then encrypt them inside the
clone bio.
This may reduce performance, but it is needed to prevent the user from
corrupting the device by writing data with O_DIRECT and modifying them at
the same time.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: dw2102: Fix null-ptr-deref in dw2102_i2c_transfer()
In dw2102_i2c_transfer, msg is controlled by user. When msg[i].buf
is null and msg[i].len is zero, former checks on msg[i].buf would be
passed. Malicious data finally reach dw2102_i2c_transfer. If accessing
msg[i].buf[0] without sanity check, null ptr deref would happen.
We add check on msg[i].len to prevent crash.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: zero i_disksize when initializing the bootloader inode
If the boot loader inode has never been used before, the
EXT4_IOC_SWAP_BOOT inode will initialize it, including setting the
i_size to 0. However, if the "never before used" boot loader has a
non-zero i_size, then i_disksize will be non-zero, and the
inconsistency between i_size and i_disksize can trigger a kernel

Reproducer:
1. create corrupted image and mount it:
mke2fs -t ext4 /tmp/foo.img 200
debugfs -wR "sif <5> size 25700" /tmp/foo.img
mount -t ext4 /tmp/foo.img /mnt
cd /mnt
echo 123 > file
2. Run the reproducer program:
posix_memalign(&buf, 1024, 1024)
fd = open("file", O_RDWR | O_DIRECT);
ioctl(fd, EXT4_IOC_SWAP_BOOT);
write(fd, buf, 1024);
Fix this by setting i_disksize as well as i_size to zero when
initiaizing the boot loader inode. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
powerpc/iommu: fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup()
When calling debugfs_lookup() the result must have dput() called on it,
otherwise the memory will leak over time. To make things simpler, just
call debugfs_lookup_and_remove() instead which handles all of the logic
at once. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: update s_journal_inum if it changes after journal replay
When mounting a crafted ext4 image, s_journal_inum may change after journal
replay, which is obviously unreasonable because we have successfully loaded
and replayed the journal through the old s_journal_inum. And the new
s_journal_inum bypasses some of the checks in ext4_get_journal(), which
may trigger a null pointer dereference problem. So if s_journal_inum
changes after the journal replay, we ignore the change, and rewrite the
current journal_inum to the superblock. |

==================================================================
The problem is that the inode contains an xattr entry with ea_inum of 15
when cleaning up an orphan inode <15>. When evict inode <15>, the reference
counting of the corresponding EA inode is decreased. When EA inode <15> is
found by find_inode_fast() in __ext4_iget(), it is found that the EA inode
holds the I_FREEING flag and waits for the EA inode to complete deletion.
As a result, when inode <15> is being deleted, we wait for inode <15> to
complete the deletion, resulting in an infinite loop and triggering Hung
Task. To solve this problem, we only need to check whether the ino of EA
inode and parent is the same before getting EA inode. |

This is a race between open_cached_dir() and cached_dir_lease_break()
where the cache entry for the open directory handle receives a lease
break while creating it. And before returning from open_cached_dir(),
we put the last reference of the new @cfid because of
!@cfid->has_lease.
Besides the UAF, while running xfstests a lot of missed lease breaks
have been noticed in tests that run several concurrent statfs(2) calls
on those cached fids
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test No task to wake, unknown frame...
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test Cmd: 18 Err: 0x0 Flags: 0x1...
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test smb buf 00000000715bfe83 len 108
CIFS: VFS: Dump pending requests:
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test No task to wake, unknown frame...
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test Cmd: 18 Err: 0x0 Flags: 0x1...
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test smb buf 000000005aa7316e len 108
...
To fix both, in open_cached_dir() ensure that @cfid->has_lease is set
right before sending out compounded request so that any potential
lease break will be get processed by demultiplex thread while we're
still caching @cfid. And, if open failed for some reason, re-check
@cfid->has_lease to decide whether or not put lease reference. |

solves this issue.

As the function returns a void, good error handling
would require a more intrusive code reorganization, so I modified
Osama's patch at use WARN_ON_ONCE for lack of a cleaner option.

The issue is caused when the value of fsi becomes less than -1.
The check to break the loop when fsi value becomes -1 is present
but syzbot was able to produce value less than -1 which cause the error.
This patch simply add the change for the values less than 0.
