| SerializingHttpMessageConverter deserializes the body of incoming HTTP requests with a raw java.io.ObjectInputStream and no class filtering. Any request with Content-Type application/x-java-serialized-object whose body resolves to a Serializable type is read directly via readObject(). If an application using this converter on an inbound HTTP endpoint has any known Java deserialization "gadget" on its classpath, a remote, unauthenticated attacker can achieve arbitrary code execution.

| Applications that deserialize execution contexts with Jackson2ExecutionContextStringSerializer are vulnerable to a deserialization attack if they use an untrusted data source for the job repository. The JobParameterDeserializer does not properly enforce the trusted-types allowlist, allowing an attacker to craft malicious input that can lead to arbitrary code execution, including known Jackson RCE gadgets.

| In Splunk AI Toolkit versions below 6.0.0, a user who holds the "power" Splunk role could execute arbitrary code on the Splunk server by loading a model file containing crafted sparse matrix data. The deserialization of untrusted data is possible because a model codec in Splunk AI Toolkit deserializes sparse matrix data without guarding against embedded pickle content. | ILIAS deserialises stored session data for an unauthenticated caller. The Shibboleth back-channel endpoint at components/ILIAS/AuthShibboleth/resources/shib_logout.php runs in a context that ilInitialisation exempts from authentication, and its logout-notification handler locates the session to terminate by reading every live row of the session table and passing each row's stored data to a hand-written parser that calls unserialize without restricting which classes may be constructed. Any serialised object present in any session row is therefore instantiated on behalf of an anonymous request, and object destructors run when those objects are discarded. A serialised object can be placed into a session row without logging in, because the LTI authentication entry point stores request parameters into the session and is reachable on a path the same initialisation code exempts from authentication. A class bundled with the application writes a JSON-encoded structure to a file named by one of its own properties when it is destroyed, which places attacker-controlled content at an attacker-chosen path below the web root and results in code execution as the web server user. Versions 9.22, 10.10 and 11.3 remove the endpoint's logout-notification implementation. |
| In Jenkins 2.567 and earlier, LTS 2.555.2 and earlier, it is possible for attackers to have Jenkins deserialize arbitrary types defined in Jenkins core or plugins from an attacker-controlled `config.xml` submission in a way that allows them to handle HTTP requests afterwards.
This can be used to impersonate any user and send HTTP requests on their behalf, up to and including use of the Script Console to run arbitrary code, or to read arbitrary files from the Jenkins controller. |
| When adding a key to a remote agent constraint extensions such as restrict-destination-v00@openssh.com were not serialized in the request. Destination restrictions were silently stripped when forwarding keys, allowing unrestricted use of the key on the remote host. The client now serializes all constraint extensions. Additionally, the in-memory keyring returned by NewKeyring() now rejects keys with unsupported constraint extensions instead of silently ignoring them. |
| AIOHTTP is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for asyncio and Python. Prior to version 3.14.0, using ``CookieJar.load()`` with untrusted input may allow arbitrary code execution. Most applications using this function will be doing so with the user's own data, so this is unlikely to affect many applications. Version 3.14.0 patches the issue. If an application does allow attacker controlled files to be loaded, a workaround on older releases would be to sanitize the files before loading. |
| The Kaltura HTML5 player (mwEmbed / html5lib) contains an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability caused by unsafe data deserialization and unsanitized filesystem path construction. mwEmbedLoader.php accepts a user‑controlled ServiceUrl, whose response is passed to unserialize(), and the resulting object’s fields are written to a cache path derived from attacker‑supplied uiconf_id without proper path validation. An attacker can write arbitrary files into web‑accessible locations and achieve code execution as the webserver user. Affected versions include html5lib v2.45, v2.103 and earlier, and other v2.x releases exposing the vulnerable endpoint. |
| The PPWP – Password Protect Pages plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection in all versions up to, and including, 1.9.18 via deserialization of untrusted input from the 'post_protection_roles' vulnerable parameter. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject a PHP Object. No known POP chain is present in the vulnerable software, which means this vulnerability has no impact unless another plugin or theme containing a POP chain is installed on the site. If a POP chain is present via an additional plugin or theme installed on the target system, it may allow the attacker to perform actions like delete arbitrary files, retrieve sensitive data, or execute code depending on the POP chain present. |

| Hyperledger Fabric is an enterprise-grade permissioned distributed ledger framework for developing solutions and applications. From versions 1.0.0 to 2.2.26, Channel.java implements readObject() and exposes deSerializeChannel() which call ObjectInputStream.readObject() on untrusted byte arrays without configuring an ObjectInputFilter. This is a classic Java deserialization RCE pattern. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patches. |
