CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ksmbd: ipc: fix use-after-free in ipc_msg_send_request
ipc_msg_send_request() waits for a generic netlink reply using an
ipc_msg_table_entry on the stack. The generic netlink handler
(handle_generic_event()/handle_response()) fills entry->response under
ipc_msg_table_lock, but ipc_msg_send_request() used to validate and free
entry->response without holding the same lock.
Under high concurrency this allows a race where handle_response() is
copying data into entry->response while ipc_msg_send_request() has just
freed it, leading to a slab-use-after-free reported by KASAN in
handle_generic_event():
BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in handle_generic_event+0x3c4/0x5f0 [ksmbd]
Write of size 12 at addr ffff888198ee6e20 by task pool/109349
...
Freed by task:
kvfree
ipc_msg_send_request [ksmbd]
ksmbd_rpc_open -> ksmbd_session_rpc_open [ksmbd]
Fix by:
- Taking ipc_msg_table_lock in ipc_msg_send_request() while validating
entry->response, freeing it when invalid, and removing the entry from
ipc_msg_table.
- Returning the final entry->response pointer to the caller only after
the hash entry is removed under the lock.
- Returning NULL in the error path, preserving the original API
semantics.
This makes all accesses to entry->response consistent with
handle_response(), which already updates and fills the response buffer
under ipc_msg_table_lock, and closes the race that allowed the UAF. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
perf: Make sure to use pmu_ctx->pmu for groups
Oliver reported that x86_pmu_del() ended up doing an out-of-bound memory access
when group_sched_in() fails and needs to roll back.
This *should* be handled by the transaction callbacks, but he found that when
the group leader is a software event, the transaction handlers of the wrong PMU
are used. Despite the move_group case in perf_event_open() and group_sched_in()
using pmu_ctx->pmu.
Turns out, inherit uses event->pmu to clone the events, effectively undoing the
move_group case for all inherited contexts. Fix this by also making inherit use
pmu_ctx->pmu, ensuring all inherited counters end up in the same pmu context.
Similarly, __perf_event_read() should use equally use pmu_ctx->pmu for the
group case. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
perf: Ensure swevent hrtimer is properly destroyed
With the change to hrtimer_try_to_cancel() in
perf_swevent_cancel_hrtimer() it appears possible for the hrtimer to
still be active by the time the event gets freed.
Make sure the event does a full hrtimer_cancel() on the free path by
installing a perf_event::destroy handler. |
| Improper verification of cryptographic signature in ASP.NET Core allows an unauthorized attacker to elevate privileges over a network. |
| Processing specially crafted workspace folder names could allow for arbitrary command injection in the Kiro GitLab Merge-Request helper in Kiro IDE before version 0.6.18 when opening maliciously crafted workspaces.
To mitigate, users should update to the latest version. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
xfrm: prevent policy_hthresh.work from racing with netns teardown
A XFRM_MSG_NEWSPDINFO request can queue the per-net work item
policy_hthresh.work onto the system workqueue.
The queued callback, xfrm_hash_rebuild(), retrieves the enclosing
struct net via container_of(). If the net namespace is torn down
before that work runs, the associated struct net may already have
been freed, and xfrm_hash_rebuild() may then dereference stale memory.
xfrm_policy_fini() already flushes policy_hash_work during teardown,
but it does not synchronize policy_hthresh.work.
Synchronize policy_hthresh.work in xfrm_policy_fini() as well, so the
queued work cannot outlive the net namespace teardown and access a
freed struct net. |
